Description
Harry Truman Free Frank Signed Envelope Dated on Day of Japan's Surrender
Envelope, measuring 7.5" x 3.75", with a return address sent from Samuel Rabbit Cox of the U.S.S. Missouri Div. 2 in San Francisco, CA, signed by President Harry Truman with a genuine postal cancel indicating that this was cancelled on the day of the formal surrender of Japan in WWII on September 2, 1945. Encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA. The slab measures 6.5" X 10".
The return address indicates that Cox was likely on the U.S.S Missouri where the surrender took place. Missouri was the last battleship commissioned by the United States and is best remembered as the site of the surrender of Japan, which would end World War II.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
