2 Fantastic Harry Truman Signatures, Philatelic!

The bold signature is just below a pink "Washington National Capital Sesquicentennial" 3 cent stamp prominently featuring the capital building and dated 1800-1950.

Signed notecard, measuring 5" x 3", mounted to a larger white sheet, 8.5" x 11", dated August 15, 1957 and labeled "Ex-President Harry S. Truman". Truman's bold signature is signed over a blue 1947 Brazilian stamp "Visitado Presidente Truman" showcasing a portrait of Truman next to a vignette of the Statue of Liberty and Brazil.

The return address indicates that Cox was likely on the U.S.S Missouri where the surrender took place. Missouri was the last battleship commissioned by the United States and is best remembered as the site of the surrender of Japan, which would end World War II.

Harry S. Truman was the 33rd president of the United States, serving from 1945 to 1953. A lifetime member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as a US Senator from the State of Missouri from 1935 to 1945.
