FDR & His Cabinet 

An incredible collection of signatures of FDR himself and 8 members of FDR's cabinet.

Included in the lot are: 

1. Franklin D. Roosevelt TLS, 8" x 10.5", State of New York, Executive Chamber, Albany, dated July 25, 1930. A short thank you letter written to Mrs. Frank J. Decatur. With a bold signature signed as "Franklin D. Roosevelt."

2. Secretary of Treasury Henry Morgenthau, Jr. signed ANS on Secretary of Treasury Card, 5.5" x 4.25", dated January 14, 1935. Henry Morgenthau, Jr. was the United States Secretary of the Treasury during most of the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt. He played a major role in designing and financing the New Deal.

3. Secretary of State Cordell Hull autograph card, 3.5" x 2.25", boldly signed. Cordell Hull was an American politician from Tennessee and the longest-serving U.S. Secretary of State, holding the position for 11 years in the administration of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt during most of World War II.

4. Secretary of Interior Harold Ickes signed card, 3.5" x 1.75", boldly signed. Harold LeClair Ickes was an American administrator, politician and lawyer. He served as United States Secretary of the Interior for nearly 13 years from 1933 to 1946, the longest tenure of anyone to hold the office, and the second longest-serving Cabinet member in U.S. history after James Wilson.

5. Postmaster General James Farley signed "The Postmaster General" card, 4" x 2.5", boldly signed. Farley was an American politician and Knight of Malta who simultaneously served as chairman of the New York State Democratic Committee, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and Postmaster General under President Franklin Roosevelt. Farley ran both FDR's gubernatorial and presidential campaigns. 

6. Secretary of Navy, Claude Swanson signed "Secretary of Navy" card, 5.25" x 3.5", boldly signed. Claude Augustus Swanson was an American lawyer and Democratic politician from Virginia. He served as U.S. Representative, Governor of Virginia, and U.S. Senator from Virginia, before becoming U.S. Secretary of the Navy under President Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933 until his death. 

7. Attorney General Homer Cummings signed autograph card, 5" x 3". Homer Stille Cummings was an American lawyer and politician who was the United States Attorney General from 1933 to 1939

8. Secretary of State George Dern signed War Department card, 5" x 3". George Henry Dern was an American politician, mining man, and businessman. He is probably best remembered for co-inventing the Holt–Dern ore roasting process, as well as for his tenure as United States Secretary of War from 1933 to his death in 1936.

9. FDR's Speech Writer & "Brain Trust" General Hugh S. Johnson signed autograph request, 5" x 6.5", boldly signed. Hugh Samuel Johnson was a United States Army officer, businessman, speechwriter, government official and newspaper columnist. He was a member of the Brain Trust of Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1932 to 1934. He wrote numerous speeches for FDR and helped plan the New Deal.
