Another wonderful George Washington Inauguration button. This particular button appears to be copper and is known as the Memorable Era button and sometimes as the Dated Eagle. The button is imprinted with March The Fourth 1789 Memorable Era. This was to be the date of President Washington's inauguration, but due to some apparent logistical issues, the inauguration was moved up to April 30th of that same year. There is a very good patina, giving the button a nice "glossy" and shows typical wear from years of touching. Button no longer retains the shank. Measures approx 1 3/8".
