Pamphlet/Booklet

A February 1777 issue of London's "The Gentleman's Magazine" containing significant Revolutionary War reports and a fold-out map of Philadelphia. Sylvanus Urban. London: Printed by D. Henry at St. John?s Gate, 1777. Small octavo, pages 51-96. Containing "A Map of Philadelphia and Parts Adjacent" by N. Scull and G. Heap. Measuring 12.75" x 14.5" when unfolded. The map shows part of the Delaware River and the country on both sides. The magazine was previously disbound from a volume, with wear at the spine. Very light overall toning and soiling and staining. The map is in pristine condition, with only a very small tear at the bottom left where it has been mounted into the magazine. Overall very fine.

"DEBATE on Lord Howe's Declaration to the Americas, concluded..."

"A general Alarm having prevailed throughout the Metropolis by a Bill brought into Parliament to empower his Majesty to secure and detain Persons charged with, or suspected of, the Crime of High Treason, committed in North-America, or on the High Seas, or the Crime of Piracy?"

"The Affair at the Cedars authentically stated. The Continental Congress having refused to return troops in exchange for the rebels who fell into the hands of the savages at the Cedars and Quinchien in May last..." (Re: Battle of the Cedars--Gen. Benedict Arnold, Capt. George Forster, Col. Timothy Bedel, etc.)

"Extract of a Letter from General Sir Wm. Howe, to Lord Geo. Germain, dated New York, Dec. 20, 1776..." (Re: military activity around Trenton, NJ, capture of US General Lee, casualties, etc.
