Signed Program

A promotional card for a musical performance, signed by both Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio. Measuring 4.5" x 8" (unfolded), Beverly Hills, n.d. [1952]. The advertisement promotes Eddie Bergman and his orchestra at the Palm Terrace, Beverly Hills Hotel. Printed in white and green, it was produced folded to sit atop a dining table. Signed by the couple on verso, ?Warmest Regards, Marilyn Monroe" and "Best Wishes, Joe DiMaggio.? Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original owner, who was 11 at the time, as well as JSA and Grey Flannel LOAs. This piece previously sold in 2021 for $22,796 in a Grey Flannel Auction. With light toning and very faint soiling. Light corner wear and nine pinholes. Boldly signed by both.

In the summer of 1952, Marilyn Monroe resided at The Beverly Hills Hotel. In the accompanying letter of provenance, the original owner of the autographs shares the story of how they were obtained: "In 1952, during my summer vacation?[we] stayed at The Beverly Hills Hotel. One morning, around 11:00 AM, we were having brunch when we observed Joe DiMaggio arriving with a beautiful blonde lady. The conversation at our table was 'Who is he with?' I remember Bettie saying 'Is that the Monroe woman?' Someone decided I could go over to Joe DiMaggio and ask him for his autograph?he graciously signed it and then said 'And would you like Miss Monroe?s?' I can?t remember my exact answer, but probably yes or thank you. I returned to the table and the mystery was solved?? In 1952, Marilyn was still a B-movie actress, so it's understandable that she was not immediately recognizable.
