A fold-out menu signed by composer Richard Rodgers (1902-1979) during an event in which he and his partner, Oscar Hammerstein, were honored at the Lotos Club's State Dinner. Measuring 8.75" x 11.75", New York, dated October 29, 1952. Signed at top left corner as "Richard Rodgers". The menu's offerings make lighthearted references to the pair's most famous Broadway productions, such as "South Pacific Cocktail" and "King and I Soup". The program's interior shows a list of the Club's previous Guests of Honor, dating from 1870 to 1952. Exhibits scattered soiling, darkened toning, and minor tearing throughout; area of isolated damp staining to top right corner. Slight smudging to signature. Good to fair condition overall.

Rodgers and Hammerstein was a theater-writing team consisting of composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist-dramatist Oscar Hammerstein II, who together created a series of innovative and influential musicals. Their musical theater writing partnership has been called the greatest of the 20th century. Rodgers, with 43 Broadway musicals and over 900 songs to his credit, is considered one of the most well-known American composers of the period, with his compositions having had a significant influence on popular music.
