Description
Two photo albums that partially include campaign material from the 1952 and 1956 presidential campaigns for Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard Nixon. Includes campaign programmes, promotional material, and three letters signed by Eisenhower, with two from 1952 and one from 1956. Also includes correspondence, invitation, and proceedings of the 1952 Pennsylvania Electoral College, of which Mrs. Mary Stackpole was a Republican elector. Additionally includes invitations and programs for the 1953 and 1957 inaugurations for Eisenhower and Nixon. Also includes assorted and unrelated booklets and photos. PROVENANCE: From the estate of Mary Trost (1933-2022), whose parents, Major General Albert Hummel Stackpole and Mary Creighton Stackpole, were influential Republicans in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area. Mrs. Stackpole would ultimately be one of 32 electors chosen to vote for the Republican ticket in 1952, and the couple would be invited to both inaugurations. 12-3/4" high x 12-1/4" wide. Overall good condition. Rubbing to exterior of albums. Some toning as expected with age. Please note that most pieces have been glued onto album pages. Please see lot 1002 for an additional book of 1952 Electoral College proceedings. AJ.
