Handwritten journal of recollections by John C. Odell ( 1838-1925), Delphi, Carroll County, Indiana that includes a word of mouth account of an Native American battle with American soldiers in November of 1812 near the now village of Pyrmont, Indiana. It details a scouting party of approx. 15-20 men for General Wilkinson, acting on orders from Indiana Territorial Governor William Henry Harrison, was in charge of larger force that was to follow up after the Battle of Tippecanoe the year before in Novemeber of 1811, were attacked by Native Americans along a branch of Wildcat Creek and resulted in 15 soldiers being killed in action. This journal also includes an account of his boyhood life of pioneer days in Carroll County, Indiana, 8 1/2" x 13 1/2", John C. Odell was born and died in Carroll County and practiced law for many years. This journal is accompanied by an old musket barrel and bayonet that was supposedly found near the Pyrmont battle site, barrel and bayonet are 58" long
