Five silver plaques showing Christ Pantokrator and the four Evangelists, 12th centurySilver, cast in relief. Probably applications for a gospel book. A low relief of Christ enthroned with a blessing gesture and the four Evangelist symbols: a man for Matthew, a lion for Mark, a bull for Luke, and an eagle for John. Backs with mounting lugs. Signs of age. Height 5.3 - 16.5 cm, overall weight 60 g.Provenance: Acquired in 2018 from a Belgian antique dealer, previously owned by the antiquarian Michel Koenig, before that from the collection of the author Henri Vernes (whose real name was Charles-Henri Dewisme). In the 1970s in the collection of Mdm. Servais, and in the 1950s in the collection of André Mathieu.Condition: II
