Description
American Civil War silver ID badge belonging to Private George W. Reynor, of Company A, 139th Pennsylvania Infantry. Shield shaped badge presents engraved obverse "Geo. W. Reynor, Co. A, 139th Pa. Vol" and measures 1.1" x 1" and presents upper obverse of eagle with crossed flags. Reverse presents T-bar pin. Surface of shield exhibits toned patina. George W. Reynor enlisted and was mustered into Company A, of the 139th Pennsylvania Infantry regiment on September 1, 1862. He was wounded at the battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia on May 3, 1863. Reynor transferred to Company I of the 13th Regiment Veteran Reserve Corps on March 15, 1865. He was discharged on June 17, 1865. Provenance: Gary Wolfer collection.
