Description
Manuscript ledger for clothing/supplies for soldiers in the 52nd Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. Entries dated between 1861 and 1865. Folio, approximately 160 leaves. Binding intact though hinges and block cracked, the whole bowed and worn, contents with some thumbing/soiling, Good+ overall. ************************* Contains an accounting of supplies for each soldier, including their name, rank, their signature (often for each item), a witness to their signature, the amount along with (in some cases) descriptions of what is being issued (e.g. shirts, pants, cap, shoes, etc.) Most entries are for soldiers of Company "C" though some from "D" appear later in the ledger. A description of settlement appears at the bottom of each soldier's account: "Account Settled"; "Died of a wound"; "Discharged"; "Died of disease", etc.
