Description
Fantastic Civil War ledger from Company I of the 2nd New York Heavy Artillery listing the status of soldiers from March 1, 1864 going forward. During this time the regiment operated as infantry and saw substantial fighting.
Statuses for the listed men include “Killed in Battle,” wounded, hospitalizations, missing in action, the nature of injuries, transfers to the invalid corps, deserted and so on.
The names of at least 130 soldiers are given – and 22 pages are filled. The ledger, which resembles a leather-bound journal, measures about 4 inches by 6 inches and is in very good condition.
