EPHRAIM BAKER (1836-1919), MT. OLIVE, SHENANDOAH CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA ARCHIVES, UNCOUNTED LOT, most sleeves contain multiple pieces, dated 1895 to 1901, comprising primarily of bill heads from wholesale merchants procuring stock for Baker's general store. 1895-1901. Various sizes.
Provenance: The estate collection of Alan R. Shirkey, Harrisonburg, VA.
Catalogue Note: Ephraim Baker operated a general store in Mount Olive, Virginia for most of his life. The store was used as a hospital during the Civil War. He also served as Mt. Olive Postmaster rom 1874 to 1889 and 1895 to 1898. Baker is buried in the Saint Stephens Cemetery, Strasburg, VA.
