William McKinley ALS as President, on Executive Mansion Letterhead

"… Please convey to Mrs. Rose and the family our heartfelt sympathy … "
It was foreign affairs that would determine McKinley’s presidential legacy. He led the nation to victory in the Spanish–American War, raised protective tariffs to promote American industry and kept the nation on the gold standard in a rejection of free silver. On September 6, 1901, William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States, was shot on the grounds of the Pan-American Exposition at the Temple of Music in Buffalo, New York. He was shaking hands with the public when Leon Czolgosz, an anarchist, shot him twice in the abdomen.
William McKinley Autographed letters while President are quite rare, with this being one of the few we have offered as a Telegram on Executive Mansion letterhead. Boasts a lovely presentation with the engraving.
