Central America, Guatemala, ca. mid 20th century CE. Wow! A unique and colorful handmade wooden festival mask of incredible form: an armadillo whose broad back is in the form of a bearded human face. The armadillo's head, long tail, and legs project from the sides of the mask. Bright pigment decorates its surface. A playful creation celebrating one of the more unique animals of the region. Size: 9.25" W x 34.85" H (23.5 cm x 88.5 cm)
