Description
ENGLISH PEAFOWL PEARLWARE CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF TWO, peafowl design on both with yellow, orange, blue and brown pigments for the body and long, orange plumage extending from its head, molded shell-edge decorated with a green pigment on one, and hexagonal-shaped, green-decorated, embossed edge on the other. The design is in the pattern called "Beach Ball" by G. and M. Deike. One having three lines painted in brown pigment, the other having one line painted in brown pigment, otherwise unmarked. Staffordshire and other areas. Circa 1815. 7 1/2" D and 8" D.
Minor expected wear, hairline crack to rim of hexagonal plate, minor roughness on rim of circular plate and several very minute glaze flakes on rim.
