Description
ENGLISH PEAFOWL CERAMIC ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, comprising one teapot and one pitcher, peafowl design is a pink, yellow, red, and blue colored bird having red and blue wings, yellow, and two plumes extending from its head, bird is perched on a thin branch with painted green pigment for foliage. Unmarked. Staffordshire and other areas. Circa 1810. Pitcher 5 1/8" H, teapot 6 3/8" H.
Finial, rim, and flange of cover and spout have had professional restoration on the teapot, wear and several flakes on foot, minute flake on pitcher spout, and one flake on rim that was painted over.

Catalogue Note: Pitcher may have a history of Rhode Island ownership. Old sticker on base reads "Harty Hawkins Dyer married Apr 27, 1786." Brief research shows a Harty Hawkins (b. 1769-1823) married a Nathan Dyer either in 1782 or 1786 and both are buried in the Pocasset Cemetery in Providence County, Rhode Island.
