Description
ENGLISH CERAMIC JUGS, LOT OF TWO, comprising one orange-bodied jug with white interior, having gilding and grisaille-painted landscape across the front, and one transfer-printed jug with silver lustre, having a hunting dog and bird on one side and a cottage on the opposite side with "THE LANDLORDS CAUTION" below the spout. Unmarked. Staffordshire and other areas. 19th century. 6 1/2" and 7 1/8" H.
Expected wear to gilding and lustre, minor roughness on spout rims, glaze flaws on several areas of the transfer-printed jug with several flakes on foot rim and radial glaze crack on base, surface hairline crack across base of gilt jug that does not go through to inside.
