ENGLISH PEAFOWL PEARLWARE CERAMIC JUG AND BOWL, LOT OF TWO, comprising one molded jug, peafowl design on exterior is an orange, yellow, and blue-bodied bird with a long, spotted orange tail and orange plumage extending from its head, bird is perched on a thin branch with brushed green pigment for foliage, base and rim of jug molded with a shell-edge pattern along the shoulder of the jug and at the juncture of the spout that has been lined with a blue pigment, a repeating, molded leaf design extends from the rim and the base and is highlighted with a green pigment, the design is in the pattern called "Berry Bush" by G. and M. Deike; waste bowl with raised foot ring having a brown band on the exterior, one peafowl painted on the side in blue, white, yellow, orange, and brown, sitting on a branch and sponged foliage, brown band of color on interior rim and one branch with foliage on the interior base, the design is in the pattern called "Fancy" by G. and M. Deike. Unmarked. Staffordshire and other areas. Circa 1810. Jug 7" H, bowl 5 1/2" D.
Good condition. Bowl has a 1/2" flake to interior of rim, jug has radial hairline crack to shoulder, one hairline crack on rim, circular section from one side that has been glued in, flake to interior edge of handle, and restoration to handle terminal.
