Description
Campania, southern Italy, Hellenistic Period, ca. late 4th century BCE. This is an ample body pottery oinochoe with a trefoil lip and faint indentations near the spout and strap handle. There is brown pigment on the surface. This would have been a nice utilitarian vessel, used for serving liquids. It was probably buried as a grave good, possibly with some kind of offering libation in it. Size: 4.75" W x 8.5" H (12.1 cm x 21.6 cm).
