Description
**First Time At Auction**

Greece, South Italy / Magna Graecia, Campania, ca. 4th century BCE. An absolutely gorgeous small pottery mug with low, flat foot and a small looped handle made of two joined cylinders that meet at the rim with a slightly flaring join. The rim is rolled outward and the neck is smooth, leading to the bulbous ribbed body. The body is overall aside from the bottom of the foot glazed in a shiny, almost-iridescent black. Campanian wares, one of the five types of known pottery produced in the Greek South Italic colonies, were made by Greek colonists in the cities of Capua and Cumae. Size: 3.95" W x 2.7" H (10 cm x 6.9 cm)
