Description
Magna Graecia, South Italy, Campania, ca. 360 to 340 BCE. A gorgeous, high fired blackware vessel boasting a shiny, almost metallic sheen, of a generous size, the body with attractive ribbed, curved walls, a cylindrical neck, and flared rim at the top with a bifurcated single handle joining shoulder to rim. The Campanian school of pottery was first established at Capua circa 360 BCE, and is best known for its graceful wheel-thrown vases with elegant finishes as we see in this example. Size: 5.75" W x 5.125" H (14.6 cm x 13 cm)
