Item Details
Description
Greece, Athens, 4th century BCE. An absolutely gorgeous small ribbed blackware mug with a makers' mark of concentric circles painted on the bottom of the base. The black glaze has attained a near iridescence from the firing process, which is known from Attic pottery. A small curved handle and a wide, pronounced foot give this a shockingly modern appearance. Size: 4" W x 3" H (10.2 cm x 7.6 cm)
