Description
An antique U.S. Model 1850 foot officer's sword. This sword manufactured by W. H. Horstmann & Sons. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania features a A brass guard in standard configuration with a pommel and knucklebow. The grip is wrapped in wire and shagreen. The blade is etched with decorative patterns. The obverse side of the blade features the maker's mark of a king's head, W.H. Horstmann & Sons Philadelphia, and various decorative motifs including a stand of arms, foliate designs, and an eagle with ribbon. The reverse side of the blade is etched with fan foliate patterns, a stand of arms with a union shield, the initials US and a Leather scabbard with brass mounts and drag. From a Larchmont, NY estate. Dimensions: sword measures approx. 32".
