Description
Greek, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd century BCE. What a wonderful kylix! Greek blackware wine cup on low foot, with twin slightly sloping handles, line of Greek inscription to one side that reads "PHILIAS" translated as "friendship." This was either given to a dear friend so they would remember their tight bond, or possibly placed in the tomb of the dearly departed. A touching reminder that friendship lasts for eons. Size: 6.5" W x 2.75" H (16.5 cm x 7 cm)
