Description
Inscribed, "JOHN KING HIS HORN MADE / 1758" (identified with Capt. John King, 1730-1808, born in Tolland Co. Ct., but by 1760s a resident of Amenia, Duchess Co., NY, served in NY militia in French & Indian War, served as Captain in Massachusetts militia early in Revolutionary War.) engraved with a stylized plant; thinned and carved cow horn, with traces of green dye, fitted with a wooden butt cap secured and decorated with small brass upholstery tacks, 12 1/2 in. L.
