Chancay Jar with Dog Faces, Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay culture, 800 to 1476 AD. A well-executed large, round bottomed bottle of an egg-shaped form with a wide neck and applied, twin loop handles linking the neck and body. The upper body is painted with a red-brown slip and is adorned with eleven dog faces. The lower part of the vessel is creamy white.Provenance: Private Collection of Gustavo Zambrano Meza.
