Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 600 to 100 BCE; Ecuador, Manteno culture, ca. 800 to 1500 CE. A set of 3 necklaces formed with a variety of different beads. One necklace features Mezcala beads carved from porous stone with a greenstone pendant, and the second, larger Mezcala necklace bears 7 large beads and a central greenstone face pendant. The longest necklace is strung with dozens of Manteno pottery spindle whorl beads. Size (largest bead): 1.38" L x 2.08" W x 2.28" H (3.5 cm x 5.3 cm x 5.8 cm)
Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966

Condition
Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Stone beads are ancient; stringing is modern. Abrasions and nicks to some beads, otherwise in great condition. Nice variety of stone colors.
