Jack London Boldly Signed Check, PSA Slabbed and Graded NM-MT 8
1p, measuring 6.25" x 2.75", San Francisco, California, dated December 21, 1909. Boldly signed "Jack London". Check No. 8, from the Merchants National Bank of San Francisco. London pays $5.25 to the Oakland Hardware Co. Endorsed and stamped on verso. The check has been encapsulated and graded NM-MT 8. With flattened folds, and punches through the "Jack" part of the signature, but boldly signed by London. Encapsulated to an overall size of 4.5" x 9.5".
John "Jack" Griffith London (1876-1916) was an American author and journalist. He is most famous for his novels The Call of the Wild and White Fang, and he became an innovator for the science fiction genre. London was also involved in social activism as part of the San Francisco literary group "The Crowd" and advocated for unionization and socialism.
