Description
Theodore Roosevelt Orders a Boat! A Stunning & Unique ALS!
ALS, 4" x 6.25"; Sagamore Hill, Oyster Bay, Long Island; July 16, no year, and written on Sagamore Hill letterhead. In the short letter, the Rough Rider remarks on a boat he recently purchased. Boldly signed by Roosevelt as "Theodore Roosevelt" Slight foxing, paper loss, expert repair and dealers notes in pencil on verso.
In full:
"Gentlemen -
The boat is entirely satisfactory except the rowlocks, which are just a trifle too large for the rowlock holes, so that they stick, will not turn, and make the labor of rowing very great.
Please send two pair that are a trifle smaller; and I do not care for the little chains on the ends.
Yours truly,
Theodore Roosevelt"
