Huge Theodore Roosevelt Signature on Sketch "Poor Europe On Crutches"
Enormous Theodore Roosevelt signature with a sketch on verso entitled "Poor Europe on Crutches," 10" x 7", boldly signed as "Theodore Roosevelt" on verso. Possibly the largest example of a Roosevelt signature that we have handled. The signature itself measures nearly 7" long. Slight toning and ink splotches not affecting the signature.
The sketch, entitled "Poor Europe on Crutches" features a scruffy man in unkept clothes walking barefoot and dragging a money sign. The sketch is signed by the artist as "Sly Mayor."
Theodore Roosevelt Jr., often referred to as Teddy or his initials T. R., was an American politician, statesman, conservationist, naturalist, historian, and writer who served as the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909.
