James Monroe Signed Illinois Land Grant.
DS, Washington D.C., dated May 6, 1812, granting John Thompson "...a certain tract of land containing 160 acres being the north west quarter of section twenty five of township thirteen north in range six east in the tract appropriated (by the acts aforesaid) for military bounties in the Territory of Illinois." Signed by President James Monroe with his full name signature as "James Monroe." 13" x 9.5". Toning, foxing, staining creasing, expected folds and evidence of previous mounting on verso.
