Description
J. Q. Adams Signed Illinois Land Grant
A land grant, 9.5" x 15", Certificate # 1893, for eighty acres of land in Springfield, Illinois assigned to "John M. Curtis", and signed by 6th U.S. President John Quincy Adams, as "J.Q. Adams" at the lower right. Recorded at Washington, D.C. on April 14, 1828. The document, which is partly printed and partly handwritten on vellum, was also signed at the lower center by George Graham, Commissioner of the United States General Land Office between 1823-1830. Bearing an intact embossed United States General Land Office seal at lower left, with expected folds, and foxing. Writing has faded slightly, commensurate with age but has not affected Adams' bold signature.
John Quincy Adams served as the 8th United States Secretary of State from 1817 to 1825 and went on to become president between 1825-1829.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
