Description
James Monroe 1817 Land Grant for Section in Cincinnati
A document granting one Daniel Waymire "the northwest quarter of section thirteen of township Five in range Five east of the meridian line" to be sold at Cincinnati, Ohio. PPDS, 1p, measuring 8.25" x 13.5", dated June 27, 1817, Washington, D.C. Boldy signed by the President as "James Monroe" and countersigned by Josiah Meigs as Commissioner of the General Land Office. This grant comes in response to a 1796 Act passed by Congress which allowed for the sale of lands northwest of the Ohio River. Lightly toned, with scattered foxing and surface creasing throughout; expected flattened folds, and additional docketing on verso by recording keeping office. Very good overall- a nice, clean example.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
