Description
U.S. Grant Signed Check as President with Transmittal ALS from Son Frederick Grant.
Signed check, Washington, D.C., dated April 4th, 1876 during Grant's term as President. Drawn on the Citizens National Bank of Washington City, with a payment of $90 made out to "Dr. Jas. Bushman". Boldly signed "U.S. Grant" at the lower right. 7.25" x 2.75". Was once tipped into a beige backing which is barely noticeable, with folds and cancel cuts not affecting the fantastic Grant signature.
Accompanying the fantastic signed check is an ALS, dated December 21st, 1895, New York, written by Grant's son Frederick Dent Grant complying with a request to send an autograph. The letter is tipped into a beige backing and reads:
"My dear Sir,
In compliance with the request contained in your letter of Dec 7th, addressed to my mother, asking for an autograph of my father General U.S. Grant I hasten to send the enclosed. Trusting that it is what you desire.
Yours very truly,
Frederick D. Grant"
