Pair of Stereographs Related to Mourning of Abraham Lincoln's Death
A group of (2) printed photograph cards, stereograph format, all measuring 3.5" x 7", n.p., n.d. Stereoscopic images, or a stereogram, refer to a pair of images that, when viewed with a stereoscope, present a 3D depth to the image. Minor foxing, toning, and bumped corners to all, but does not affect the image quality. Overall very good condition. The lot includes:
1.) "Lincoln Memorial, Dissected Leaves". Features a domed glass display case with a cross, adorned with Abraham Lincoln cameo, inscribed underneath with the epitaph "Died April 15, 1865". Published by noted photographic supplier E. & H. T. Anthony & Co located in New York City.
2.) "Skeleton Leaves". The image depicts an arrangement of skeleton leaves surrounding a portrait of Lincoln. The term "skeleton leaves" refers to a leaf that has been stripped of its green outer layer so only the veins remain. Copyright 1874 by I. L. Rogers and published by noted stereograph manufacturers, the Kilburn Brothers Studio in Littleton, New Hampshire.
