William McKinley Thanks For Speeches Given in Favor of His Nomination to the Presidency!

1p, measuring 5.5" x 8.25", Canton, Ohio, dated February 21, 1896. A thank you letter signed "W McKinley", addressed to Charles U. Gordon of the Union League Club. McKinley thanks Gordon for sending Chicago papers and writes, "I am also under obligations to you for the trouble you have taken in the matter of the proposed publication and distribution of the speech. With flattened mail folds and minor ink ghosting from where the page was folded. He is probably referring to the Sept. 1, 1896 Chicago Chronicle which documents speeches given at the Hamilton Club regarding his nomination. Large and bold signature.
