McKinley Appoints Capt. William Statham to Commissary of Subsistence w/ Original Packaging From War Department
An appointment for the Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers signed by William McKinley and countersigned by Secretary of War Russell A. Alger. Accompanied by original packaging, addressed to the Office Commissary- General of Subsistence, postmarked June 25, 1898. Partial-printed DS, measuring 15.5" x 19", June 21, 1898, Washington, D.C. Slight tearing present to corners and edges, otherwise very good condition. Large and bold signatures from both!
McKinley names William W. Statham for the position, reading in part: "I have nominated and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate so appoint him Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers with the rank of Captain…". Horizontally signed by Adjutant General Henry C. Corbin in top left corner.
