Two Teletypes About JFK's Death "heartbreaking scene, unbearable to watch"
A pair of teletypes relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Both dated November 23, [1963], from Washington, D.C. The first, measuring 8.25" x 3.5", UPI-97, reports on the two Kennedy children being told about the death of their father. In part: "Press Secretary Salinger said the children were told last night that their father was dead. He said he did not know who told them or anything about their reaction. The children spent the night at the White House. They were taken to the Home of Mrs. Kennedy's mother, Mrs. Hugh Auchincloss, after the news broke yesterday but were brought back to the White House last evening…"
The second, measuring 8.25" x 1.5", UPI-101, reports on Jackie Kennedy bidding her husband goodbye. In part: "Mrs. Kennedy saw her beloved husband for the last time at Bethesda Naval Hospital. She placed her wedding ring on his finger and kissed him goodbye before the casket was closed. It was a heartbreaking scene, unbearable to watch…" The small sheets have light toning and slightly curled edges. Ink staining in places at the edges. Very good overall.
