Promissory note, signed by Monroe as Secretary of State, to Postmaster General Gideon Granger, for $606. 40; additionally signed by Granger on verso confirming payment. Cancellation slits and one small loss at center; creasing from original folds. Lot includes a secretarial copy of Monroe's will, with a partially printed document, signed by Register of Wills, Z.C. Robbins, tipped onto final sheet, dated November 16, 1865. Lot also includes a printed portrait card of Monroe, and two pieces of printed ephemera.
