A Rare Kwoma Washuk Meeting House Panel with Spirit painting.This large and impressive panel is painted on a flattened section of palm tree bark and painted with natural organic pigments.The Painting is of a Spirit and shows a very wide eyed human like face atop a wispy \"bright\" wavy form surrounding circular objects.The Tribes of this region are strong animist with a devout belief in the power of spirits to interact in the world of the living.The panel measures 51 x 15 inches.Field collected by John C. Edler in Meno Village, Kwoma- Washkuk, Papua New Guinea in the 1980\'s.
