Charles Camillo DeRudio was an Italian aristocrat, would-be assassin of Napoleon III, and later a career U.S. Army officer who fought in the 7th U.S. Cavalry as 1st lieutenant at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. DeRudio survived the encounter ultimately attaining the rank of major before his retirement in 1896. David F. Barry was an influential photographer of Native American subjects who established a studio in 1884 in Superior, WI. A friend of Buffalo Bill, he is also noted for his photographs from reunions of the Little Big Horn. Blindstamped twice by Barry, with Barry's Superior, WI label on back of mat.
