Ancient Near East, Holy Land, ca. 3rd to 5th century CE. A small mold-made terracotta redware oil lamp of a style indicative of the early Byzantine Empire. It has a flat base, stepped shoulders, a slightly flared fill hole, a single applied loop handle, and a protruding wick spout. Size: 3.375" L (8.6 cm).

Provenance: ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, Illinois, USA, acquired prior to 1970
