Ancient Near East, Holy Land, ca. 5th to 8th century CE. A trio of mold-formed pottery oil lamps with circular bases, expanding walls, large fill holes, tab-shaped handles, and projecting wick spouts. Each handle boasts a stylized anthropomorphic face in low relief. The shoulders of two lamps are circular in form and one is cruciform, with each decorated in a series of small concentric circles. Covered in earthy red slip, this is a fine gathering of ancient light-producing technology! Size of largest (most prominent face): 2.55" W x 2.5" H (6.5 cm x 6.4 cm).

Each lamp has minor abrasions, small nicks to handles, bodies, and wick spouts, fading to relief details, and light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
