May 1, 1780 Virginia Two Dollars “Guaranteed” Note
State of Virginia. May 1, 1780. Two Dollars. “Guaranteed by the United States” Issue. Fully Signed & Issued. Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
Fr. VA-172. This impressive bright crisp red and black printed Revolutionary War note was printed by Hall & Sellers on specially produced, watermarked “FEDERATION” period laid paper. It is Fully Signed in rich bold brown ink and issued on both its face by John Lyne and Jonathan Boush, and on its back “Guarantee” line by Forster Webb. The edges and corner tips are all extremely sharp, this note has superior overall eye appeal. A 5% annual interest printed payment table is located on the face side at the lower left.
