Description
South Carolina Currency
Rare April 10, 1778 South Carolina "Horse" Vignette Note
South Carolina. April 10, 1778. Twenty Shillings. "Horse" vignette. PMG graded Choice Fine-15.
Fr. SC-151. A rare Revolutionary War period major Vignette design type that is one of the three highest denominations on this issue. This note is well printed within four fully wide to huge side sheet margins. The printed text and "Horse" vignette are sharp and clear. The holder notes tape repair (of a long center split). Overall, this note is pleasing in its overall eye appeal. The strongly penned signatures of John Beale and John Peronneau are written in rich brown ink, immediately to the left of the wonderful "Horse" vignette, no doubt why PMG added "Choice" to their grade.
