Description
Medal of the Universal Association for the Emancipation of Christians and Jews in the Orient (Association Universelle Pour L'?mancipation des Peuples Chr?tiens et Israelites d'Orient). [19th century, ca. 1850].
Obverse: five figures in a circle holding flags representing Christianity, Judaism and Islam, on an urban background (possible Istanbul), with the French legend "Pour Tous Droits Egaux" [Equal rights for all]. Signed: Barrachin / E. [Emile] Rogat F. Reverse: legend in French, surrounded by the name of the organization. The bottom is engraved with the name of the member of the organization given the medal - "M. Charles Muller".
Diameter: 60 mm.
Provenance: collection of Bruno Kirschner.
