A studio portrait signed and inscribed below the image "To Hamilton Fish with Regards, Calvin Coolidge." Photograph by Harris & Ewing. Measuring 9.5" x 13.5". Light edge toning and adhesive mounting residue on verso. Boldly signed.
Colonel Hamilton Fish III (1888-1991) served in the First World War and later became a Republican congressman for the state of New York. He served as the Representative for New York's 26th district from 1920 to 1945. During the second half of his political career, Fish was a chief critic and opponent of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, especially on matters of international affairs and America's entry into the Second World War. He was also one of the key politicians responsible for establishing the Tomb of the Unknowns.
