CIVIL WAR ERA CARTE DE VISITE PORTRAIT COLLECTION
American, 19th century, paper ephemera. Six (6) CDV: four Civil War soldiers; a standing soldier with sword taken by J.A. Scholten of St. Louis, Missouri; a standing soldier with sword and holstered piston taken by A.D. Lytle of Baton Rouge, LA, ink inscribed to verso "Peter Sha(sic.) Co. of 2nd Ill Cav"; a standing Civil War soldier in frock coat by J.A. Scholten of St. Louis, Missouri, inscribed in pencil to verso John (sic) inscribed later in pencil " Kes9884p22e/Missouri Soldier", and with applied sticker inscribed PVT John *sic) Co. C 3rd Regt. Mo Militia"; a standing soldier with sword taken by J.C. Downing, Jefferson City, Missouri; an advertising CDV for J.F. Comstock & Co., St. Louis, Missouri; and a CDV of James Blackman, the Manager of J.F. Comstock of St. Louis, Missouri.

From the Collection of John F. Bradbury, Jr., longtime archivist and director of the State Historical Society of Missouri?s Rolla Research Center in Phelps County. John was a historian specializing in the Civil War period with a dedicated and distinguished career to studying and promoting the history of the Missouri Ozarks region.
